Taking Fonts Outside: 30 Examples of Street Typography
6Street art, street typography, or typography graffiti — whatever term you call it — is one of the most intense art forms for many designers to study. Part of the intrigue is the speed and the limited tools with which these artists have at their disposal, not to mention the fact that often the art is illegal. Street artists not only need to plan, but they need to execute unique strokes to create striking images which captivate users, even if only for a short time.
These examples focus on stunning typographic concepts in graffiti. Note the dynamic color selection and scale at which these street typography designs were created!

Back in 2000, I took a back road along the Mississippi River in St. Louis and came across miles of incredibly talented and artistically created graffiti. It was amazing — if however, not the best place for a female alone to tour. But so glad I did!
Sounds it like it was quite the memorable experience — full of art and adventure!
Cool post — I think graffiti is hugely underutilized as a form of media — it shares roots with traditional and direct to surface signage, can potentially last longer and with much less environmental impact than hundreds of yards of vinyl. I agree, but the problem can be in getting permission to plaster ads all over sides of buildings, bridges, etc.
The second to last piece is DAIM. I’m surprised you only included pieces and not throwups and handstyles. There are some great ones to be found that I would have chosen over some of the pieces you included.
